Projects

I have written code for {codingSince} years, in many different languages, and still enjoy being able to craft things out of basically nothing. Being aware that our work is always built upon the work of others I believe in OpenSource and try to follow its principles. I prefer GPL over MIT. More details can be found at My Background.

While not actively contributing to Open Source or public projects in the recent years, this is where I grew up and learned a lot. I still like the general idea behind it, while I think that MIT-like licenses and communication culture in many Open Source are more likely to cause burn outs especially for maintainers then help our society. I will still release any sensible idea as OpenSource but generally prefer GPL-like licenses.

Loosely Maintained

I am not actively maintaining any projects right now. Some projects are still alive and I am available for urgent fixes:

• Portalific

  
  Portalific is an OpenSource browser based portal, displaying your feeds, your calendars, and other information of personal relevance. It works (almost) entirely browser-based, so your data is safe and secure. For cross-device synchronization you can optionally use a backend to synchronize the data continuously between devices.

• Zeta Components

  
  MIT licensed set of general purpose PHP components – I wrote the documents, graph, and webdav components. Probably the first test-driven-development project in PHP, with high quality components, but never gained sufficient traction.

• Data Object

  This repository just contains a simple base class for PHP data objects. This class throws exceptions if you try to read or write unknown properties, and ensures a clone is performed recursively.

• XML Schema Learner

  This software implements various state-of-the-art algorithms for algorithmic learning of XML Schema definitions and Document Type Definitions. Project is the result from tmy thesis.

  The most popular PHP testing framework – I maintained the now deprecated mock objects for a while.

  Database storage and object mapping (ORM) libray – I helped creating the CouchDB Document Mapper.

  I tried creating an extensible issue tracker, but failed for technical and project reasons.

• PHPillow

  First CouchDB library for PHP, poisoned by static methods.

• Image_3D

  PHP 3D rendering library – do not use in production – just a fun experiment.

• Kaforkl

  Use images to code, with a immense threading – only an experiment.

• Torii

  Simple feed reader, I still use myself, but probably should not be used by anyone else anymore.
